Terms of service

Last updated: 26 August 2026

These terms govern access to and use of the Booklane website and SaaS platform for bookstores. Please read them carefully before signing up or using the service.

Acceptance

By accessing the site, registering an account or using Booklane you fully accept these Terms of service and our Privacy policy.

If you use Booklane on behalf of a bookstore or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.

If you do not accept the terms, do not use the service.

Service description

Booklane is a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform for the day-to-day management of independent bookstores.

Depending on your plan, the service may include catalog, inventory, point of sale, customer records, orders, reporting and VAT handling.

Available features, usage limits and integrations are described on the Pricing page and in product documentation at the time of subscription.

Account and credentials

You must provide truthful, current and complete information when registering.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

You must notify us promptly of any unauthorised use or security breach involving your account.

Plans, pricing and billing

Booklane offers different plans (Free, Pro, Enterprise) with distinct features and limits as shown on the Pricing page.

Unless stated otherwise, prices are exclusive of VAT and may be updated with reasonable notice for new renewal periods.

Upgrades to paid plans may require contact with our team or acceptance of specific commercial terms.

Failure to pay amounts due may result in suspension or limitation of the service.

Free trial

The Free plan may include a 14-day trial with limits on titles, sales, users or stores as indicated at registration.

After the trial ends, if you do not upgrade, access to editing features may be suspended or limited as communicated in the platform.

We may change trial duration, limits or availability for new accounts without retroactive effect on existing relationships unless otherwise agreed.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Booklane lawfully, in accordance with these terms and good commercial practice. You must not:

  • Use the service for unlawful, fraudulent purposes or in violation of third-party rights.
  • Attempt unauthorised access to systems, data or other accounts.
  • Interfere with the operation, security or performance of the platform.
  • Copy, decompile, reverse engineer or create derivative works of the software except as permitted by mandatory law.
  • Share credentials with unauthorised parties or resell the service without written agreement.
  • Upload unlawful, defamatory content or content that infringes intellectual property.

Data entered in the platform

Data relating to titles, customers, sales and your bookstore activity entered in Booklane remains your responsibility.

Where such data is processed on your behalf as part of the service, Booklane acts as a processor under any applicable agreement or contractual conditions.

You must inform your customers and comply with privacy law applicable to activities carried out through the platform.

Availability and maintenance

We aim to keep Booklane continuously available, but the service may be temporarily interrupted for scheduled maintenance, updates or force majeure.

We may modify, improve or discontinue product features with reasonable notice where possible.

We do not guarantee error-free or uninterrupted service: use of the platform is at your operational risk.

Intellectual property

Booklane, the website, software, brand, interface and proprietary content are protected by intellectual property rights of the service owner or its licensors.

You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service according to your plan and these terms.

You acquire no ownership rights in Booklane software or materials other than data you enter yourself.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Booklane is not liable for indirect damages, loss of profit, loss of data or lost revenue arising from use or inability to use the service.

The provider's aggregate liability for documented direct damages shall not exceed amounts paid by the customer in the 12 months preceding the damaging event, except in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence and except for non-waivable consumer rights where applicable.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time, subject to any ongoing contractual or commercial obligations.

We may suspend or terminate access in case of breach of these terms, unlawful use, non-payment or security needs, with notice where reasonably possible.

Upon termination we may retain or delete data in accordance with the Privacy policy and legal obligations.

Changes to the terms

We may update these Terms of service to reflect regulatory changes, product evolution or commercial model updates.

We will publish the updated version on this page with the revision date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms, unless otherwise required by law.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Italian law, subject to any mandatory rules applicable to consumers resident in the European Union.

For disputes with business customers, the courts of the place where the service owner is established shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory rules.

We always encourage you to contact us amicably before starting any proceedings.
